Visiting One of the World's Most Beautiful and Dangerous Beaches

A full-day journey across Nusa Penida, exploring dramatic coastal landscapes, natural rock formations, hidden geological wonders, and one of Indonesia's most iconic beaches.

This documentary follows a day-long expedition across Nusa Penida, a rugged island located just off the coast of Bali. Traveling by fast boat from Sanur, the journey leads through some of the island's most remarkable natural landmarks. From dramatic cliffs and powerful ocean views to remote beaches and unique rock formations shaped by centuries of waves and erosion, the film captures both the beauty and the raw character of one of Indonesia's most visited islands.

The Story

The story begins with an early morning crossing from Bali to Nusa Penida. The first stop is Broken Beach, where a collapsed sea cave created one of the island's most recognizable natural landmarks. The journey continues through a landscape of towering cliffs and unusual rock formations sculpted by the Indian Ocean over thousands of years. After a brief pause to experience local food and island life, the film reaches its final destination: Kelingking Beach. Descending the steep trail under the intense midday sun becomes one of the most physically demanding moments of the journey, ultimately rewarding the effort with one of the most breathtaking coastal views in Southeast Asia.

Behind The Scenes

Filmed during a single day on Nusa Penida using a lightweight travel documentary setup. Production required an early departure from Sanur Harbor, fast-paced location changes across the island, challenging cliffside terrain, and a demanding descent to Kelingking Beach under tropical midday conditions. Drone footage, natural sound, and observational storytelling were used to document both the landscape and the experience of exploring the island firsthand.
