Filming this episode came with an unexpected personal challenge.
A few days before visiting Hudson Yards, I had fallen from a bicycle while filming another project in New York. The injury made climbing stairs uncomfortable, especially during long shooting days.
That became a real obstacle when we arrived at The Vessel. The structure contains multiple levels connected by hundreds of steps, and every level offered a different perspective for filming.
Despite the pain, I decided to continue climbing all the way to the top. Missing those viewpoints would have meant leaving part of the story untold.
Like many travel documentaries, some of the most difficult moments never appear on screen. What viewers ultimately see is the finished journey, while the physical effort, repeated takes, and challenges behind the camera remain part of the story behind the story.
